Abstract
Following its discovery in 1947, Zika virus garnered little attention in the global stage until 2015, when a rapidly spreading epidemic brought the virus, and its devastating clinical manifestations to light. Zika virus pathologies include Congenital Zika Syndrome, a known causative of microcephaly, as well as spontaneous miscarriages and the development of Guillain Barré syndrome. Despite recent advances in research, the molecular biology of Zika virus is largely unknown.
