Barbara Lilley is currently the Program Officer for the New York State Program for the Conservation and Preservation of Library Research Materials at the New York State Library which provides over $2 million in grants for the preservation of mainly paper based materials. She also provides consultant services regarding preservation throughout the state. In partnership with the New York State Archives she worked to create the Documentary Heritage and Preservation Services in New York Program (DHPSNY). This is a five year contract with a vendor to provide archival management and preservation services to all not-for-profit cultural organization in New York, which includes surveys, site visits, workshops, webinars and mentorships. She is the co-chair of the Alliance for Response Capital District a NEH funded effort to create partnerships between cultural organizations and first responders. Ms. Lilley is also the State Aid Coordinator for approximately $90 million instate aid to libraries and library systems. She also provides regional consultant services to public libraries and public library system and Reference and Research Library Resources Systems.
Previously she was the Head of the preservation Reformatting Department, Preservation Division for Columbia University Libraries, and Project Coordinator for the Foundations of Western Civilization Preservation Project, an NEH funded project, also at Columbia University.
Ms. Lilley has also worked at northwestern University Library in Evanston, Illinois as a Preservation librarian and she began her career in preservation as a Mellon Foundation Preservation Intern at Columbia University.
She is a graduate of the University of Michigan,College of Literature, Science and the Arts and School of Library and Information Studies.
