Abstract

The 2015 Zika virus (ZIKV) outbreak amassed international concern due to its association with the high incidence of devastating neurological conditions- microcephaly and Guillain-Barré Syndrome. Reportedly affecting over 5,000 fetal newborns, imaging studies have unveiled the pernicious effects of ZIKV infection on the fetal brain, which include cortical malformations, micrencephaly, hydrocephalus, and focal inflammation.
